IPA Scholarships

The IPA strongly urges the directors of all participating schools to encourage their senior members to apply for the IPA Inc. scholarships. Over the years, thousands of dollars have been awarded to deserving percussion students from all over the state of Indiana. Each member school or independent ensemble may submit a maximum of three (3) applications from high school seniors. 

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

All applicants for the Indiana Percussion Association Scholarship Award(s) must meet the following criteria:

I. The student’s ensemble must be a “member in good standing” with the Indiana Percussion Association Inc. 
II. The student must be a current “member in good standing” with their percussion ensemble.
III. The director may submit three applications per school.
IV. The applicant must be accepted to a four (4) year accredited college, or university.
(Please enclose a copy of your acceptance letter)

V. Applicants wanting to be considered for the Pearl Scholarship must be accepted into a school of music degree program. (Please enclose a copy of your acceptance letter)

VI. Applicants must complete the attached application including:
A) A list of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities
B) Music related awards, achievements and special honors
C) A brief description of their future plans
D) A 1 – 2 page typed essay describing, in detail, the influence indoor winter percussion and/or the Indiana Percussion Association has had on their overall musicianship, high
school experience, life or career goals, personal character, etc.

VII. The applicant must have a guidance counselor complete the attached Academic Verification form

VIII. The applicant must include three (3) letters of reference. One letter MUST be from the applicant’s current band director or ensemble director. Two others may be from other references including, but not limited to, teachers, school principal, minister, employers, etc.
